The ingredients needed to make Grapefruit granita:
  1. Get 2 1/2 cups grapefruit juice (fresh)
  2. Make ready 1 cup water
  3. Make ready 1/3 cup sugar

If you opt for the grenadine, it also heightens the granita's color. For the best results, squeeze your own grapefruit juice or buy it fresh and unpasteurized from a juice bar or market. Combine sugar syrup, grapefruit, anise pod and lime juice in the jug of a blender. Process on high until mixture is well blended and anise pod is completely crushed.

Steps to make Grapefruit granita:
  1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and whisk until sugar is dissolved pour liquid onto a baking pan and freeze until solid (3-4 hours) (or blend with 17 ice cubes (adding 2 every minute) for 30 minutes)
  2. With a fork, break granita into little chunks
  3. Put the chunks into a blender and blend for 6-8 minutes
  4. Serve immediately!

  6. Notes: although granita is a simple dish, I originally made it so that it was a long and hard. I figured because most likely it wouldn’t work, I made it simpler. Well… that’s and crock pot girl wanted to see it posted! 😉

Place granita mix in a shallow tin pan. Remove from freezer, scrape frozen mixture with a fork. Stir in the grapefruit juice, Champagne, and fleur de sel. Carefully place the dish on a level surface in the freezer. Freeze for one hour, rake the granita with a large dinner fork, and return it to the freezer.
