The ingredients needed to make Pearl Millet Soup:
  1. Get 2 tablespoons Bajra Aata/Pearl Millet flour
  2. Get 2 cups Chaach/Buttermilk

  5. Take 1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste
  6. Get 1/4 th teaspoon black pepper powder

  10. Get 1 teaspoon Ghee
  11. Prepare 1 pinch Asafoetida
  12. Take 2 teaspoon Cumin seeds / Jeera

Let the soup boil until the jaggery dissolves completely. You can remove the whole spices with a spoon in case you are not fond of seeing. Bajra (Pearl millet) is the most widely grown type of millet in India. Millets are seeded grasses and are a healthy substitute for rice and wheat in almost all the recipes.

Steps to make Pearl Millet Soup:
  1. Mix bajra flour with 2 tablespoons of water and make a slurry.
  2. Take chaach in a pan and add the bajra flour slurry to it.
  3. Now boil it on high flame stirring continuously.
  4. Once boiled, lower the flame and add all the vegetables and clove.
  5. Add salt, pepper and cinnamon powder and stir, let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes or till the veggies are little soft /tender
  6. Do not over cook, the veggies should be little crunchy.
  7. Meanwhile prepare the tadka. - Heat ghee in tadka pan and add hing and jeera.
  8. Once they splutter, switch off the gas and pour this tempering over the prepared soup.
  9. Garnish with coriander and serve hot.
