  1. Take 250 grams Gooseberry
  2. Prepare 1 tsp Asafoetida
  3. Make ready 2.5 tbsp Red Chilli Powder
  4. Prepare 1 tbsp Mustard
  5. Take 1 tbsp Fenugreek Seeds
  6. Take as per taste Salt
  7. Make ready 3 tbsp Gingelly/Sesame Oil
  8. Get as per taste Curry Leaves (handful)
  9. Prepare 2 Dry Red Chillies

Pickled gooseberry has a ginger and chilli flavour in them. You can have the ginger and chillies on its own as well. Arai nellikai is tart and tangy berry unlike regular gooseberry which is more of a different taste. Lovely pictures and thanks for sharing.

Steps to make Gooseberry Pickle:
  1. Boil the Gooseberry's for 3-4 minutes. Cool, slice and keep them aside.
  2. Dry roast half of mustard and half of fenugreek. Grind them to a fine powder.
  3. Heat oil in a pan. Splutter the remainig mustard and fenugreek. Add dry red chillies and curry leaves.flame.Add red chilli powder, asafoetida,salt, powdered mustard and fenugreek and the sliced gooseberry's. Mix well and keep aside for day.
  4. Your pickle is ready to use instantly. Tastes better after a day.
